Suggestions for plating gold on 303 stainless steel without nickel or copper underplating. Customer in the medical field needs a 300 series stainless steel connector, gold plated and is concerned about the contamination presented by nickel or copper underplating. Unit to be implanted under the skin in subject.

I don't normally suggest specific suppliers on this website, but I will in this case. Technic, Inc. has an acid gold strike that can be plated directly on 300 series S/S without alloying agents. I'm sure they will provide you with all process steps you will need to follow. It would be beneficial for you to know the gold thickness requirements from your customer so you can be sure the bath is a good fit.
