Rust proof coating

What is the best and cost effective coating on MS (Mild Steel) which prevents it from rusting for a very long period.

Hi, Hardyal. This is too vague for any possible answer. A case could be made for zinc plating, galvanizing, electroless nickel plating, painting, powder coating, electrocoating, Cosmoline, manganese phosphating, gold plating, flame spraying, aluminizing, teflon coating, and probably many more technologies.

If you start by giving us a minimum period before rusting is allowed, the environment the part will see, and exactly what the part is; and if you give us the maximum acceptable applied cost per square foot, the list could probably be culled to manageable length. Thanks.

Regards,

Hi Hardyal,

If, if, if this is about an internal roofing structure, please consider general purpose, TAR, ASPHALT, MACADAM.

This was used in a chemical plant a million years or so ago after they had tried out all the conventional materials ...
This was in Quebec and was for the internal roof beams.
