Suitability of Cr Plating on SGI base metal for Sea Water application

Dear Sir

Is it ok to use a component which is in SG Iron and having around 20 microns of Hard Cr Plating for Sea Water application ? Pl. Guide

No, Akalp. Hard chrome plating is for hardness, lubricity, and low friction. It tends to be porous and unsuitable as a corrosion resistant finish. Electroless nickel might work.
