Is nickel plating or tin plating better for a wine press?
I HAVE A PAINTED STEEL WINE PRESS MACHINE WHICH I WANT TO PLATE TO PROTECT IT FROM CORROSION. I AM DEBATING BETWEEN NICKEL AND TIN. CAN TARTARIC AND/OR MALIC ACID WITH A PH OF 3.4 FOUND IN WINE DAMAGE TIN OR NICKEL? WHICH PLATING WOULD YOU recommend? |

Hi, Maurice. If it's external and for decorative use, I think you'll be more satisfied with nickel. If the wine touches it, tin is a food-safe metal.
