Non Cyanide Plating on Zinc Die Cast (Zinc Alloy)

We've new inquiry from our customer regarding to Zinc Non Cyanide on Zinc Die Cast. We would like anyone advise the risk analysis of this matter and how to design proper pretreatment processes and avoid any blistering or any defects.

Hi, Ars. People who have been plating die castings for decades still encounter defects, so it's rather a tall order to ask for a lifetime of experience to be summarized in a forum response :-)

But the short answer is that the suppliers of these proprietary alkaline non-cyanide processes will work with you to recommend a full pretreatment process. Still, you'll probably have to inspect the die castings before commencing because higher standards are required of the substrate for plating than for powder coating, and you'll probably have to vibratory finish them before starting the recommended chemical pretreatment sequence. Good luck.
