Chrome on aluminium without zincate

i have been told that there is another more reliable way of plating chrome on aluminium that does not use the zincate double dip preteatment.
van anyone help me with information about it

I have never heard of one that is more reliable.
You might consider an alkaline electroless nickel strike or a nickel sulfamate strike before the chrome. Caution, it passivates rapidly. The biggest problem with this is the rack has to have ALL of the chrome solution/stains removed or it will gradually kill the strike tank.
