Painting and Distressing a Tin Tile Mirror

I'm looking to create a tin tile mirror, similar to the ones I see at flea markets and craft shows. I've found a good source for tin tiles, but they are embossed and like new. I am wondering about how to paint and distress the tiles to give a more antiqued/vintage look, similar to the mirror seen here:



Any suggestions would be helpful.

Try 200 gm iron(III)chloride/1 lit water solution.You can download old book on metal colouring by Arthur Hiorns (Internet archive website WWW.archive.org)and then try other formulas for tin colouring. Hope it helps and good luck!
