What is Electrolytic Galvanizing
October 16, 2008
I am a quality engineer trying to comply with a customer standard regarding zinc plating. The standard in question goes into detail regarding a process described as Electrolytic Galvanizing. My question is, is that just another name for zinc plating?
The reference section of the standard refers to a book or publication titled "Manual for Electroplating" published by the
"VOM." I have not been able to find this publication or publisher on the internet. Any help finding this publication would be helpful.

Hi, Richard. Yes, it's just another name for zinc plating, probably coined to ride the coat tails of hot dip galvanizing since that is a more expensive more corrosion resistant finish than zinc electroplating.
