Powder coating vs. ACC Autophoretic Coating

Q. Sir,

Can I have information on detailed Autophoretic® process & the comparison of Autophoretic® Process Vs Powder coating. And feasibility of replacing powder coating process by Autophoretic® process. (i.e., consumption, cost impact)

A. Hi, Anand. Autophoretic coatings offer the advantage of full coverage of consistent thickness despite deep recesses, no issues with Faraday cage effects, and probably lower paint cost due to much thinner coatings. But powder would be much more esthetically appealing and more versatile, and probably more corrosion resistant in most applications.

To my knowledge Henkel is the only company offering Autophoretic coatings, so you can ask them for this comparison, while also asking a supplier of powder coatings to present the opposite case. Good luck.

Q. I need to know difference (comparison) in paint cost between ACC 866 and powder coating

A. Hi, Ashraf. You can get a cost comparison from Henkel. However, for balance you might talk to a powder coating proponent like Tiger Drylac.

Bear in mind that the reason both approaches are popular is that the details of your situation will matter a great deal. The technology that is the least expensive for one particular type of part and production volume might be the more expensive for another situation. If you can describe your needs then someone may be able to offer pointers.

Good luck.
