Removing paint from a copper bathtub
I have an 1890's copper clawfoot bathtub with a wooden rim from a cottage on a Maine island. Years ago my brther-in-law painted it blue, and I want to remove the paint from the copper surface. Some paint removers say that they are suitable for metal, but I am unsure about their effect on copper. I would like to end up with a nice bare copper surface. I would appreciate hearing about products or methods that I could use.

Hi, Al. If this were a precision aerospace component I might be concerned about some sort of embrittling effect from certain solvents, but I don't think most solvent paint removers will have much effect on a copper bathtub.
