HCI tank mating flange gasket material?
September 5, 2008
Dear Sirs,
I have a rubber lined carbon steel HCI tank with leaking between the tank flange surface and mating pipe flange surface.
The tank is pitted, I can repair the pitting and later coat over the tank with our own coatings, however I need to find a suitable gasket material for the carbon steel flange
that will last and give a good seal.
Is rubber the only flexible option here or is there a better way to seal these flange joint area?

Hi, Andy. If the temperature is low enough, PVC (Koroseal) is widely used for tank linings for HCl.

Hi Andy,
What Ted says is l00% right .... hell, you could also use a Viton seal but why waste $$$$.
