Thin rust like streaks on Kitchen Aid Stainless Refrigerator
I just noticed thin rust stripes (approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inch long, and countless in quantity) on my KitchenAid stainless steel fridge. The marks are more obvious in sunlight. I have wiped the fridge several times with a soft cloth and then dried with paper towel. In some spots I can rub off the stain, but they're too numerous to do that for all. We have new cleaners, and I don't know what they are using. Previously, I just wiped them down with a microfiber cloth. Any suggestions on how to remove these marks?

Have you had any luck with this problem? I just discovered the same on my Jenn-Air stove. Also have a new cleaner and I'm not sure if she's using the stainless polish or something more caustic. Help!

Amy and Jennifer, this is a common problem usually associated with cleaners containing ammonia ⇦this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] or chlorides (bleach, etc. Scratch-B-Gone quickly removes rust, chemical stains, heat discoloration as well as scratches from these surfaces and more. Best

Muriatic Acid, or hydrochloric acid containing cleaning products will also cause rusting.
As well, if they were ever cleaned with steel wool, will cause rusting.
You can try a scotchbrite pad rubbed WITH the grain to remove the existing rust.
