Base Material for Rhodium Plating
Our business in trying to reverse engineer a part for one of our customers and we need to know what types of material can get Rhodium Plate. We have come to the conclusion that its not CRS. Can anyone help.

Hi, Jason. You can plate just about anything with any plateable metal or alloy, but it may require intermediate layers for a number of reasons, such as: to prevent the plating solution from attacking the substrate, to prevent the plating solution from immersion depositing on the substrate, to prevent the substrate diffusing into the plating, etc.
Rhodium plating can probably be deposited on steel with an intermediate layer of nickel plating, for example.
