Powder coat finish for aluminum case of LED lamp
Hi , I have a question to powder coat aluminium outer case of LED Lamp , that we are getting blow holes in the grooves of the component. And because the Coating thickness required is 80 microns so extra powder leads to peel off problem and less powder leads to double tone of white colour.
Can you please suggest the process which needs to be adopted to sort this problem.

I presume that the casing is produced from aluminium casting? The gasses escaping at the cooling stage produce capillaries (blow holes). These can cause defects (blow holes)at the curing stage of the powder coating process. Answer, preheat component >100C (removes entrapped air) powder coat when still very warm to the touch. You should also investigate iron phosphate or chromating to improve adhesion problems.
