Science project: Production of Sulfuric Acid
August 14, 2008
Hi,
I am a final year undergraduate student, currently I'm doing a project on improving the production of sulfuric acid.
For my preliminary study, I'm wondering, is it possible to build the sulfuric acid plant near to a petroleum refinery, so that I could get an ease in obtaining sulfur as my raw materials.
Also, how most refineries treat the H2s from crude? And how they remove any SO2 produce? What are the main process they used?
I need some idea for my design.
Hope someone could help me with this. Thank you.
Cheers,
Cherlyn

Raw yellow sulfur can be shipped by rail car, so you do not need to be "nest door" to the source.
For the rest of the material, you need to get into technical reference material as all you will get is opinions and that does not qualify as a reference for your project.
