Plating a spiral staircase for Better Homes & Gardens contest winner

I have a existing spiral staircase that can not be removed, I have stripped all of the paint down to bare metal and like the look, I would like to apply a plating of some sort to either keep the bright shiny bare metal look or plate it to make it unique (nickel, copper, etc., the treads will be glass when this project is done. Also as a side note this house was featured on the front cover of Better House & Gardens in 1968 and when we finish with the remodel we will be entering this well documented experience in a contest.

Hi, Lee. It's not cheap by any means, but it is certainly possible to brush plate this stairway in place. Contact the vendors and get a price. Good luck.

If you are talking about just the hand rail portion, it can be done, but will NOT be cheap. If it includes the vertical portions, the price will be dear and if it includes the portion that holds the stair, you will need a huge pocketbook.

I would buff it to a luster that you like and then put a clear coat on it.
