Cutlery mfgr wants better stainless to avoid rusting

July 24, 2008

We are importing cutlery from many countries
We have some rusting problems about the knives ,esp. the ones in sand finishing , as they are made of generally 420 stainless steel ( 13/0),which is the common knife material
We appreciate if you suggets us another material which can be used in production of knives and resistant to corrosion better than 420 material.

A simpler solution would be to change the packing and shipping process.

Give them a good solid coat of mineral oil before shipping. It should prevent any further oxidation.
