EN coating the inside of a diesel fuel tank
July 22, 2008
I am a hobbyist looking for an opinion and a plater to do the inside of a used, but derusted 50 gallon diesel tank. Some platers say medium phosphorus, and while the price at $200 is attractive, everything I read says high phosphorus. { with a salt spray test of
1000 hours to back that up.} Low and Medium offer less than 100 hours which in my opinion negates its use in the first place.
Some platers have offered the advise that even at high content, I'm only looking at about 250 hours, stating the results of those tests are not truly representative.
Need impartial advise. Thanks.

You'll have much better corrosion protection by having the interior of the tank hot-dip galvanized. There are companies which specialize in this process for fuel tanks. Do a web search to find one.
