Making brightener for Alkaline Zinc Barrel Plating in house

Hello fellows

My question is can anybody suggest to me how to make a brightener in house for Alkaline Zinc Plating? I know that anyone reading this question will raise eyebrows, but I am ready to experiment.

Hi, Sean. We may not think it a smart undertaking to make your own brightener, but there is nothing illegal or immoral about it, so we won't raise our eyebrows. Many people even consider outright reverse-engineering (chemically analyzing someone else's brightener) to be perfectly ethical (although I don't know that I share that view myself).

But due to the relative anonymity of the internet it is very easy to blow trade secrets, so we won't print any responses except those which refer you to published literature. Good luck.

Regards,
