What is ornate stein and music box made of?
I came across a stein made in Switzerland. It is ornately engraved and it has a music box in the base. The outside surface looks like clean steel or nickel in color. However, the engraving exposes a definite brass colored material as if the exterior was plated and the tool that cut through the surface exposed the yellow metal base material. I'm looking for someone that might have a clue as to what material(s) this might be made of. Thanks,

Hi, Larry. Trying to guess what something is made of based only on a verbal description of it from someone who admits to not being familiar with the technology is probably a little silly, but I'd guess it's lead-free pewter and the lettering was gold plated after engraving. But it's certainly possible that it is solid brass and is tin plated.
