Gage study of autotitrator for NiFe bath
July 4, 2008
I am working in semiconductor industroy in plating department and we are trying to do a gage study on auto titrator that is going to be used for for analysing Fe and Ni content of our NiFe bath. I don't have any broad knowledge of Gage study before and my question is to get satisfactory result what do we need to do?
How many times do we need to take the samples? (so far we try two times for one sample; do we need more?)
How many people do we need ? (so far we are two, do we need more?)
it would be nice if some one can enlighten us about the gage study too?

If you google Gage R & R you will get the info you need. A good place to start is the NIST web site Statistics on line book at http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/handbook/

Hello Abraham
If you have a completely automated system, where the person who is performing the measurement has absolutely no influence on the result
(Which of course are very few measurement systems), you can have only one person for your GAge R&R, if not 2 persons is the minimum, but personally I would prefer to have 3 persons. Each sample should be measured twice by each person that is enough. Very important is , that the samples should be representative for your process spread, and that you analyse the samples completely randomised.
In my expirience the main failure from analysis systems is not the titration itsself , but the way the samples are taken from the bath and the preparation for analysis.
Good luck
