Stainless compatibility with trivalent CCC on aluminum casting
Q. I'm experiencing what I think is galvanic corrosion of a stainless part used in an assembly with a trivalent CCC aluminum die cast part while salt fog testing. Is it truly galvanic corrosion? If so, what is the mechanism?

A. Hi, Matt. I would doubt it since stainless is far more noble than aluminum.

Thanks Ted. I am also going to investigate the possibility of crevis type pitting corrosion. The stainless part is press fit into the aluminum part with very tight tolerances.
