Washing and drying gold potassium cyanide crystals

June 23, 2008

I used refining methods described in "Finishing" by fellow chemists to obtain GPC crystals and got a fine looking product.
I would really love your advise dealing with two subjects very important in the process :
A. Washing the product.
In your opinion, dear mates, what is the preffered solution I may use transferring the crystals from the flask over to the filter paper minimizing any risk of desolving the precious GPC...
B.Drying the substance.
It is very important to come up with a clean and dry stuff. Could anyone sugest a way to achieve dryness at its best?
Looking forward for any possible help.

A low temp heated vacuum cabinet could be used For drying.
I can not find GPC in my chemistry handbook, but gold cyanide is soluble in water and in alcohol. My guess is that you will need to use a non polar solvent as water and ethanol are both fairly polar. But, will this rinse the impurities out?
