Alodinisation

Pls. help me get some information about process called "Alodinisation". I think this name is French, and I think it is something like chemical oxidation of aluminium, but I don't know used chemicals and conditions. Thank you.

Alodine is a proprietary conversion coating which use hexavalent chromium along with a mixture of other chemicals to neutralize the charges on the surface of aluminum and leaves a film which contains aluminum salts and some of the components of the chromating solution.

See "Chemical Conversion Coatings for Aluminum Alloys", by J.F. Murphy, American Electroplaters Society, 1961 Technical Proceedings, pp. 60-68, for a discussion of oxide, chromate, and phosphate chemical conversion coatings.
