Thinnest brown-black finish for bronze cymbals?
I want to finish my drum cymbals dark black but am worried it will change the sound. I believe they are made of a bronze alloy so anodizing wouldn't work. What's the thinnest coating I can test on one of these cymbals?

liver of sulfur ⇦ this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] should make them dark brown to black, Nick, and it will be very thin. It probably won't change the sound as long as your eyes are closed. But dark brown-black cymbals are not going to have the timbre and ring of bright brass cymbals if your eyes are open.
