Corrosion between anodized aluminium sheet and galvanised steel frame.

June 3, 2008

Hello all

I'm an architect working in the UAE at a sea side location with high salt content in the humid air here. I'm wanting to fix a bronze anodized aluminium decorative screen to a galvanised steel frame where both elements are horizontal over a roof top water tank so that rainwater (in the five days a year that it does rain)could sit between them.

Is there a problem with the Galvanizing corroding? Should I separate them with a nylon washer or will moisture still cause problems?

Regards

Hi, Matt. The nylon washer will solve the galvanic corrosion problem.
