Hi, Thyagarajan. Copper can be blackened without additional layers of electroplating.
But zinc and copper are already "heavy metals", the no. 1 and no. 2 heavy metal roadway pollutants, so what are you trying to do? To aggravate that problem by proscribing possibly good solutions like black nickel or black chrome plating wouldn't make much sense, so please try to flesh out what kind of components you are coating, why you are coating them, what environmental conditions they must resist, and why the possibly best solutions must be ruled out. Thanks!
