Jeweler's rhodium plating starts coming out black?




Can someone please, enlighten me.....I am using a 100 ml pyrex to rhodium plate about 12 pieces mens ring, which was finally polish with red jeweler's rouge this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , heating the solution for about 3 mins in an electric stove and using a 3 volt DC rectifier with platinum plate connected to the positive terminal I started to plate the rings, I finish the 7th ring when I notice that the 8th ring and so on the 10th were black in color? can we recover back or clean dirty rhodium sulphate? please help...Ernny

Hi, Erny. Do you have any way to check the rhodium concentration? I hate to state the obvious, but if you plated 7 rings from the solution and now you can plate no more, is it possible you used up the available rhodium?
