Black Anodize IAW Mil-A-8625, Type ll, Class 2 .0002 Max Film Thickness

The material is 6061-T6 Alum. Can the black finish be obtained and pass testing with the .0002 max. film thickness?

Hi, Paul. Purple yes. Black, I doubt it. Black, unlike other colors, implies 100 percent color saturation, which is hard to achieve with the amount of dye you can get in .0002". I think most shops would suggest .0005" or higher for black.

There are some black dyes out there that will strike on a thin coating. I have personally had success as low as .0003
