Accidentally blackened the aluminum hub of stainless spoked wheels on 1981 BMW 750

I've attempted to clean a motorcycle front rim using acid. The result was a blackened center hub. I've invested in and installed stainless steel spokes and need to know if there is a way or product that will allow me to overcome my mistake

Aluminum polish (Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , Simichrome this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] , etc) and lots of elbow grease.
