I am preparing a tenth class project.How can I produce electricity out of salts present in sea water?

Hi Ted, Does the project state by any means - if I am correct (and my school days are long past) I suggest the following:
If you place two different metals in a salt solution and connect them together with copper wire via a voltmeter you should observe a slight flow of DC current. You have just created a galvanic cell, sometimes the process is loosely referred to as electrolysis. This is due to the fact that one of the metals becomes the anode and the other the cathode and as an example a steel bar connected via a voltmeter to a magnesium bar you may obtain a flow of 2.5 volts DC current.
