Lead Cathodes vs ELV/RoHS
Hi
We use Lead cathodes in our Anodizing Process. The electrolyte is Sulfuric Acid. The new customer wants us to confirm that the Lead can not be a part of the coating. We have checked our components in a well equipped laboratory for lead in the coating, in which the results show that the Lead in ppm level where as ELV says 0.1 % of Lead allowed in the coating.
We are thankful in advance for your experiences shared with us on the lead dissolution in the bath and its participation in the Anodizing process.

Hi, Shiva. It is possible to convert to aluminum cathodes for greater electrical efficiency, but I have never personally heard of lead cathodes causing non-compliance with RoHS, and don't understand electrochemically how they could cause lead to be absorbed by the anodized parts. Good luck.
