POST PROBLEMS IN ZINC PLATED COMPONENTS
March 16, 2008
WE ARE FACING THE PROBLEM WITH ZINC PLATED (ALKALINE BASE NON-CYANIDE HEXAVALENT 8-15 MICRON YELLOW PASSIVATION) PARTS MAINLY ARE;
1 WHITE SPOT RUSTS
2 BLACK MARKS
HOW PREVENT THESE PROBLEM?
ANY SPECIAL TYPE PACKING?
ANY POST TREATMENT IN PRESERVATION?
WE ARE USING WOODEN BOX WITH CORRUGATED PACKING
COMPONENTS ARE SENDING THROUGH SEA IN CONTAINERS.

Hi There,
Just let us know whether the components are cast iron, I would suggest to have an trivalent iridescent passivation with an topcoat, later dry well or cure it well so that the components are completely dry, also just check the packaging material , nowadays there are lot of special chemical coated packaging papers available which prevents corrosion, mainly when your parts are to be shipped across via sea.
