Brass plating over die-cast zinc
What kind of brass plating would you recommend for plating over die-cast zinc as protection against corrosion. The piece will be used for irrigation with ambient temperature water.

Hi, Quentin. I doubt that you will find plain brass plating sufficiently corrosion resistant for this application. But maybe duplex nickel (semi-bright nickel followed by bright nickel) followed by brass plating will be good enough. But be careful about ruining your reputation by making something look like brass when it isn't. It's okay if it performs like brass, but may be a huge problem if it doesn't. Electroless nickel might be a better answer. Is the component threaded, or might it be possible to use an organic coating like powder coating? Good luck.
