You cannot use copper sulphate ⇦this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] or another simple salt of copper because the copper will "immersion plate" with poor adhesion. Three possibilities are cyanide copper electroplating (very dangerous), proprietary copper pyrophosphate plating, or nickel plating first and then copper plating.

According to old books/19-th century/ you can use alkaline copper tartarate bath .Probably ferrocyanide based(non toxic, even FDA approved cyanide compound) bath can be used too/19-th century too/.Hope it helps and good luck!
