Difficulty Electropolishing 17-4 SS parts
March 11, 2008
Hi There
We manufacture small SS screws. We are able to get good electro polishing results on 304 SS parts, but when I run 17-4 SS parts in same bath they come out etched and lusture less.
Electrolyte bath 1s 75% Phosphoric acid and 25% sulfuric acid. Cathode material is 316 SS and 6V. I don't know why it is not working for 17-4?
Any suggestions are extremely welcome
manufacturer Elctro polisher - Ludhiana, Punjab, India
Because 17-4 contains Cu.

If you change electrolyte according to our specifications, you can polish any stainless steel, carbon steel, copper, aluminum, molybdenum, nickel alloy - everything in one tank.
