How to clean rustiness from carbon steel pipes of gas turbine?




I am working as a construction personnel with a company in Saudi Arabia and we face a problem that the gas turbine cooling water line have been flushed with water and even after several flush we find the water more dirty inside, is there any method to remove the rustiness and dirt from the pipe ?

Senthil, Assalaam alaykum.
You can use IceBlast, a non abrasive blasting technology, to remove the rustiness and dirt from the pipe. You can also use IceBlast to clean the turbine.

citric acid this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] is a good cleaner for rust. Protect the pipes after with some rust protection.

We also have good results using Iceblast on this kind of deposits. We have blasted heat exchanger pipes internally for example and it does not harm the base material. Of course, size and form might give trouble, but it is worth trying.
The residual water is the only thing left. Success!
