Welding on zinc coatings
I have a couple of welders that have asked me about welding on zinc coated parts, we have caster mounts that may have a zinc coating, we have seen yellow soot coming from them when we welded these. no one has gotten sick yet, the place I bought them said there was no plating but one of the guys got ahold of the manufacturer and he said they had a zinc coating,

I understand the frustration of trying to get customer service these days, Alan, but the supplier absolutely has to truthfully tell you what he is selling you. Your employees have a legal right to know. You can't expect readers on the internet to guess whether this caster has zinc plating on it and then use their guess as the basis for your safety plan. Welders should not be inhaling any fumes, but if they inhale zinc fumes they will probably get fume fever.
