300 Series Stainless Steel Roofing Nail and G-90 Galvanized Tin Cap

Hi My name is Manny Alvarez. I am a customer representative for a roofing company in Miami FL. I have a client who wants us to use stainless steel fasteners as much as possible. We can get stainless steel roofing nails but there are no stainless steel tin caps anywhere ( at least, I have not been able to find them). Does anyone know whether or not a 300 Series Stainless Steel roofing nail used in conjunction with G-90 galvanized tin caps will be a problem as part of a built up roofing assembly. The SS nails and G-90 tin caps would be entombed in the system by hot tar and modified asphalt roofing membranes. Thank you in advance for your help.

Although stainless steel and galvanizing are galvanically incompatible, the fact that stainless steel tends to passivate, and that you have a huge area of heavy zinc coating to protect a small amount of stainless, means that I would personally be very surprised if it was a problem.
