Rechroming my grandfather's marine captains sword
It very important to me. the scabbard is chrome plated.but has a few scratches and a fingerprint or 2 stuck on it..thats what happens when kids get their hands on it when you aren't around..I want to refurbish it to its original glory. but I don't know what process I should look for to get it done..it has a couple of bronze pieces on the scabbed that I don't want damaged during the chroming process. if anyone could post what the best route to take. that would be most appreciated.

A museum curator would be a possible source to find a quality antique restoration services. I would not necessarily trust it to the polishing or plating shop on the corner.

I am assuming the sword will have to be disassembled. That should be left to someone with that kind of experience. Then take the parts to a plating shop that has a reputation for doing good work.
