Activated carbon reaction with nickel based sheet

2007

We are having a hard time preventing Alumina bricks on the reactor contaminating coconut shell activated carbon when reacted under super heated steam at about 900 deg C. One method is to water wash the activated carbon repeatedly. The process involves huge water utilization and very tedious dehumidification.

Possible economic solution would be to line the entire reactor interior with thin sheets of high nickel based sheets capable of withstanding repeated heating to 1200 deg C .to act as barrier.

We will very please hear of the possible problems of this solution. especially due to constant rubbing of carbon particles.

The carbon particles could blast the nickel shell and produce nickel particles that will contaminate your carbon again.
Next question will be: contamination is less or more?
IF it is relatively less then, the change is OK.
