Techniques/recipes for coloring metal

hello,i am getting started in decorative metal designs and am looking for techniques/recipes for coloring metal.both ferrous and non-ferrous, Mainly steel and copper.personal experience or reference to literature would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Regarding coloring of copper, we have a FAQ on patinization. For coloring of steel, there is a chapter in the Metal Finishing Guidebook. Good luck!
