Polished aluminum wheels turned milky from chrome cleaner

Q. I made the terrible mistake of using Chrome wheel cleaner on my polished aluminum wheels. Now they appear stained and poilshing does not seem to affect the stain. What is my best option to reclaim my polished aluminum? Should I wet sand them or try use a liquid abrasive? Any ideas? Does 3M offer anything that works well since I work for a distributor.

A. Hi Cody,
There's a better than not chance that the aluminum has been slightly etched by your cleaner.
You would need to bring the wheels back to a mirror finish with metal polish, and coat them so they don't need to be polished again.
