Nickel striking and copper plating titanium

Hello, My name is James,I am a rookie copper plater . I have been having trouble electro striking nickel and copper plating onto a prototype titanium piece and I have 400 more that are not. I have tried to activate this metal using a variety of methods the only one that seems to work is a aluminum oxide blast but I doubt that activates titanium. does anyone have any suggestions? so far my method has worked but I happen to also produce hard micro blisters that don't seem to peel of with qc tape but disappeared when I strip the metal. Why? what step should I take to prevent this side effect? I have tried to substitute nitric acid for 629 the same used for ss#300 to hard chrome plate but to no success does any one have a method that will work 100%? Thank you all in advance for you all suggestions.

Hello, James. Welcome. My only suggestion is to see if your company or town library has ASM Metals Handbook, Vol. 5, Surface Engineering, as it has a great chapter to help you understand and deal with activation of titanium and refractory metals. Good luck.
