Visual verification of Chemical Film Mil-C-5541 Class 1A?

Is there a proper method to visually verify the coating applied to an aluminum part. Some parts appear to have a straw colors hue to them while others appear to be bare aluminum color. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Certainly chromated coatings will tend to give you some light brown or straw colors compared to bare aluminum. But so called colorless conversion coatings will be more difficult to verify. I would suggest infrared or XRF which will both be quick and non-destructive.
