Suitable plating and their durability at sub zero temperature
We are one of the leading automotive ancillary manufacturers in India. We export to many countries including the vehicles running at Arctic region where the temperature will be around -15° C to -40° C. Our Customer specification calls for 240 hours to WR in that condition.
We would like to know the suitable plating for meeting this requirements and their performances at this operating range.

Hi Parthasarathy,
looking at the status of your company as the "leading automobile ancillary manufacturer in India", it will be wise to arrange for a lab test done at your lab for WR for 240 hrs. at Arctic region temperature and see it yourselves. I assume that the base metal characteristic, plating and passivation should remain the same at that temp.unless it is disputed by an expert metallurgist.250 hrs Wr is not un attainable.Fortunately for you there are supply houses in your city(Chennai)to assist you in your endeavor. Please look around.
Please also let us know about your experience with your component in Arctic region!

Dear Mr Narasimhun,
12 microns of Zinc Iron plating should withstand such extreme applications for a good period of time, so would zinc-aluminium flake coatings.
