How to give a watchband a brushed look?

I have a watch that I would like to refinish. It is a Stainless Steel this on eBay or Amazon [affil links] watch. I was thinking of getting a fine sandpaper and gently sanding in the direction of the grain, but I wanted to check and see what suggestions anyone had to do this properly?

I recently did my s/s band. Plater's best friend, wet scotch - brite squares gently rubbing in the same direction provides you with a nice "brush like" finish. It can be done over and over to remove scratches. Good Luck!
