Black Oxide on Different Parts at the Same Time

2007

Hello All,

This is my first time posting, but I have been here numerous times for information. Great site.

I have been working on a project where we need black oxide coated fasteners. Is it possible to coat, at the same time, many different types of parts? They are standard fasteners (#4, #6, nuts).

The quote is coming in at $80 for two types of parts up to 25 lbs., each additional 25 lbs for $25. I thought it didn't matter if different types of parts were mixed together during the process.

The extent of my knowledge on black oxide coating, other than its corrosion resistance and appearance change, is the hot and cold process. But I am not familiar with what you can or cannot do with the process.

Thank you in advance,
Jimmy

First of all, the only black oxide coating is the hot one. So-called "cold black oxide" isn't black oxide at all...

Yes, you can mix different parts if they are made of similar alloys.
