Church needs to remove scratches or renew finish of Plexiglass mirror

Q. One way mirror like material removed from door which we thought was glass, but found to be plexiglass. Is there anyway to either fill scratches or cover them in some way?

Hi Marcy !

Plexiglass is, relative to plate glass, a soft material.

To remove or partially remove scratches

1. Sand down
2. Ditto but use ultra fine sandpaper
3. Get a drill
4. Insert some floppy cloth ...say 10"dia.
5. Turn on drill so that the cloth is hitting the acrylic surface. This will 'burn' the surface and ergo remove them thar scratches.

For more or perhaps better advice, go to a local thermoplastic fabricator who specializes in acrylics ...
to get a smooth finish on edges, they sandpaper and then
pass the 'edges' over a high speed cloth arrangement.
