Dechroming Aluminum
Nothing seems to work. I have tried the methods I read on this site and many other sites like this one.I am restoring a 1945 H.D. The aluminum motor parts must stripped for proper restoration.

Many plating shops would be able to do this for you, Patrick. There will be nickel plating under the chrome, and copper plating under the nickel. I am surprised that these parts are aluminum though; I would have suspected zinc in 1945.
Unforunately, we have found that when a reader says "I've tried everything and nothing works", without saying what they tried, it almost guarantees that no reader will respond because odds are 10:1 that their effort will be dismissed with "I already tried that and, like I said, it didn't work" :-(
